Project: Strategic Climate Data Narrative – Thailand's Path to 1.5°C

Role: Data Visualization (Power BI) & Policy Narrative Strategist

Tools Used: Power BI, DAX

The Objective

To analyze Thailand’s carbon emissions and develop a data-driven presentation advocating for systemic policy changes to keep global warming below the critical 1.5°C boundary. The final deliverable was designed as a persuasive tool for stakeholders to support the implementation of the proposed Thailand Climate Change Act.

The Challenge and My Approach

During the initial phases, our team struggled to align on a unified topic and narrative. I took the initiative to research regional climate policies and successfully steered the group toward a high-impact, localized issue: Thailand's carbon expenditure and the legislative action required to fix it.

I was responsible for bridging the gap between raw climate datasets and the policy recommendations by developing the core analytical visuals in Power BI.

Key Contributions & Technical Execution

1. Data Visualization & Trend Analysis (Slides 4-7)

I designed and developed the foundational dashboards to establish the urgency of the climate crisis in Thailand:

Since both global and local temperature metrics existed within a single column, I utilized the CALCULATE function to branch the data. I created distinct measures using AVERAGE with an ALL filter for the global baseline, and a specific SUM filter for Thailand to enable a side-by-side visual comparison .

Utilized clean line charting and targeted color contrast to draw immediate attention to the CO2 spike
